Case 1 – the beginning

Welcome to TeamHaem’s first case discussion. Please read the following case outline and respond to the initial question posed via Twitter. Keep an eye on the twitter feed as more information will be released as the discussion develops.

A 65 year old man with a history of mitral regurgitation has recently undergone elective mitral valve replacement. His platelet count has begun to fall and you have been contacted for your opinion.

What more would you like to know?

Please respond via Twitter (include #teamhaem in your response) and offer one comment or question at a time. There are no right or wrong answers and everyone’s opinion is equally valid.

Please note: The cases presented by TeamHaem will ALWAYS be fictional to protect patient confidentiality. As we will be discussing rare conditions it is important you do not accidentally refer to real-life cases that could allow friends/family to identify their loved-ones. Respect for confidentiality is paramount.
