So there’s been plenty of discussion about what the blood film shows.  One of the arts of morphology is saying what you see… and saying what you don’t see.

Here is the result of her full blood count:

  • Hb: 100g/L (yes… we’re g/L rather than g/dL on #teamhaem!) (115-160)
  • MCV 76fL (78-100)
  • RDW 18 (11-15)
  • WCC 6.5×10*9/L; differential normal (4-11)
  • Platelet 12×10*9/L (150-450)

Now what do you think?

Please reply on Twitter and use #teamhaem in your response.  In particular lets look at the differentials to start off with.  If you’re really keen ask for some additional tests to help out.  We welcome all followers to aid in discussion!
